Resource Recovery Group Background Information - For Job Applicants

The Resource Recovery Group provides waste management opportunities for its member councils in Perth’s southern metropolitan area. The Resource Recovery Group has undertaken research and trials in developing its stated aim of reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. The underlying philosophy of the Resource Recovery Group is to treat waste as a resource, maximising waste reuse. Key components of its strategy include a regional resource collection system and the construction and operation of a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, designed to process the collected materials.

The challenges demand the appointment of innovative and resourceful staff with a strong commitment to waste minimisation and empathy to environmental concerns. The ability to work closely as a team is essential to achieving community participation, continuing Member Councils support, and most importantly reduction in waste to landfill at acceptable economic levels. The Resource Recovery Group requires staff with a shared vision and a commitment to the organisation’s mission and objectives.

The Organisation

The Resource Recovery Group was established as a Regional Local Government by a constitutional agreement dated the 10th November 1991, which continues in law under the present Local Government Act 1995. The Member Councils work together as a regional Local Government agreement for the purpose of better planning, managing and coordinating the removal, processing, treatment and disposal of waste.

The council workforce is just over 50 people.
Personnel are currently either employed by the Resource Recovery Group or engaged through employment hire agencies.
